The name "ichigocreations" embodies the word "ichigo" which is the Japanese word for "strawberry". I chose this name because it evokes my childhood in various ways. I remember that as a child I loved to pick up wild strawberries from the garden of my house and during walks in the mountains. Moreover, since I was a child, Japanese culture has intrigued and fascinated me, which is why I chose the Japanese language for the name of my shop.

Even my passion for yarns has roots in my childhood: my dad worked in a wool mill so at home there have always been balls of wool that my mom turned into soft sweaters, warm socks and colorful caps. I have tried several times, over the years, to learn knitting from my mother, but with very little success. Then, when the wool mill closed, we found ourselves with the attic full of samples of wool yarns. It therefore seemed to me the perfect opportunity to finally learn how to transform yarns into objects and, given the failures with knitting needles, I decided to give crochet a chance. With the help of my mother and her infinite patience, after a few attempts gone wrong, I managed to make my first puppets with the amigurumi technique: an elephant for my best friend, a horse for the latest arrival in the family, a key ring for me ... Then, with the arrival of the first granddaughter in 2014, I dedicated myself to the creation of objects for mothers and children and still today I create breastfeeding necklaces, teething rings, puppets and toys in cotton and natural materials for children and their mothers.

Il nome "ichigocreations" racchiude in sé la parola "ichigo" che è la parola giapponese per "fragola". Ho scelto questo nome perché evoca in vario modo la mia infanzia. Ricordo che da bambina amavo raccogliere le fragoline di bosco dal giardino di casa e durante le passeggiate in montagna. Inoltre sin da bambina la cultura giapponese m'ha incuriosita e affascinata, ecco perché ho scelto la lingua giapponese per il nome del mio negozio.

Anche la mia passione per i filati ha radici nella mia infanzia: mio papà lavorava in un lanificio quindi in casa ci sono sempre stati gomitoli di lana che mia mamma trasformava in soffici maglioni, calde calze e colorati berretti. Ho provato più volte, nel corso degli anni, a imparare da mia mamma il lavoro a maglia, ma con scarsissimo successo. Poi, quando il lanificio ha chiuso, ci siamo ritrovati con la soffitta piena di campioni di filati di lana. Mi è sembrata quindi l'occasione perfetta per imparare finalmente a trasformare i filati in oggetti e, visti i fallimenti con i ferri, ho deciso di dare un'occasione all'uncinetto. Con l'aiuto di mia mamma e della sua infinita pazienza, dopo qualche tentativo andato male, sono riuscita a realizzare i mie primi pupazzi con la tecnica amigurumi: un elefantino per la mia migliore amica, un cavallo per l'ultimo arrivato in famiglia, un portachiavi per me... Poi, con l'arrivo della prima nipotina nel 2014, mi sono dedicata alla realizzazione di oggetti per mamme e bambini e tutt'oggi creo collane da allattamento, anelli da dentizione, pupazzi e giocattoli in cotone e materiali naturali per i bambini e le loro mamme.
